The Precision Plastic Ball Company all began back in 1981. Raymond Summers (Dad or Grandad to us) founded The PPB Co after a colleague from America reached out to him and proposed creating a sister company to The PPB in Chicago, USA. If it wasn’t for that phone call, we wouldn’t be here today supplying thousands of balls all over the world!
So, where did it all start? Well, it started in the Summers family home situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The business began in the garage and the whole family got involved. Eventually, it began taking over more and more rooms in the house, the bedroom, living room, kitchen, spare bedroom … can you see where this is going?
As the demand for balls increased, it became obvious it was time to expand, so in 1996 The Precision Plastic Ball Co moved to 70 Main Street, Addingham. The premises used to be an old Antique shop which we restored into an office and storage space – you’d never believe we have over 20 million balls stocked in a terraced building!
We originally supplied engineering balls for valves, pumps and level indicators but as time progressed, it was clear we had a much wider customer base. Our products have been used in many different applications ranging from float balls in Kettles right up to Film, Theatre and Television productions. We still supply clients today who have been with us since day one in 1981 and our audience is constantly increasing.
